O2 have talked to hotpress.com to explain how they plan to allow their customers to buy tickets for shows in the new O2 venue (formerly the Point), before they go on general sale.
As previously reported in Hot Press, the Point Theatre is set to re-open in December as the 02.
Causing concern among some music fans was the announcement that 02 customers would be able to avail of priority advance booking.
“Is this going to make getting tickets to big shows even more difficult?” one gig-goer asked us.
Well, we’ve checked with O2 and been told that: “A small percentage of tickets – approximately 10% of a potential 13,000 – will be made available to 02’s 1.6 million customers between 24 and 48 hours in advance of going on general release. Any tickets from the priority allocation which don’t sell will go straight back into the pot for general release.”
Which means a minimum of 11,700 tickets going on general sale compared to the old Point’s quota of 8,000.
