The original girl power band are reforming.
For the first time in almost thirty years the original line up of Sara Dallin, Keren Woodward and Dublin native Siobhan Fahey are heading back on the road for a new UK-wide tour.
Siobhán Fahey, who was the first to leave the original group in 1988, when she forged Shakespeare’s Sister, is from Ireland. Her parents – like those of Shane McGowan and Boy George – came from Co. Tipperary and moved to London when Siobhán was two years of age. She was later replaced by Jacqui O'Sullivan, but her acrimonious departure meant that the original line-up never toured together.
One of three siblings, Siobhán's sister Máire appeared in the video for ‘Come On Eileen’ by Dexy’s Midnight Runners – a band who were fronted by Kevin Rowland, the son of by another Irish emigrant couple from Crossmo;ima in Co. Mayo.
Bananarama's planned tour for later this year will be the first Fahey has even done with Bananarama.

Although no Irish dates have been announced at the moment, tickets for Bananarama's UK tour go on sale on Wednesday. The band have said they will look at adding further gigs in the near future.
Meanwhile the current Bananarama line up (i.e minus Fahey) will be performing at the Beatyard Festival in Dun Laoghaire in August.
