The Pogues' Spider Stacy, James Fearnley and Jem Finer – as well as members of Fontaines D.C., Lankum, The Libertines and more – are performing as part of the anniversary show
As part of the upcoming Féile MOTH celebrations in London, Spider Stacy is curating a special show marking the 40th anniversary of The Pogues' debut album, Red Roses For Me on Friday, May 3. Originally scheduled to take place in the MOTH Club in Hackney, the gig has now been upgraded to the iconic Hackney Empire due to phenomenal demand – and the star-studded list of performers have been unveiled, featuring long-time collaborators, innovative new acts, and a host of Irish artists.
The evening will include performances from: Junior Brother, Tom Coll (Fontaines D.C.), John Francis Flynn, James Fearnley (The Pogues), Jem Finer (The Pogues), Daragh Lynch (Lankum), Fiachra Meek, Holly Mullineaux (Goat Girl), Iona Zajac, The New Eves, Jordan O'Leary (The Scratch), Gary Powell (The Libertines), Brigid Mae Power, Jim Sclavunos (The Bad Seeds), Nadine Shah, Spider Stacy (The Pogues), Stick In The Wheel, Kami Thompson (The Rails), George Vjestica (The Bad Seeds), James Walbourne (The Rails, The Pogues), Sean Fitzgerald (The Deadlians) and The Pogues Brass Section.
Féile MOTH, presented by the Broadside Hacks Folk Club and Skinty Records (the traditional Irish record label founded by Fontaines D.C.'s Tom Coll), takes place over the May Bank Holiday weekend.
On the Saturday, May 4, Rónán Ó Snodaigh & Myles O'Reilly will headline a night of music that will also include a solo set from The Scratch's Jordan O'Leary, as well as performances from Alfi and Saileog Ní Cheannabháin.
John Francis Flynn, Junior Brother and Ellie O'Neill will all play on the Sunday night, May 5 – while the Monday, May 6, will see Andy Irvine, Brigid Mae Power and Paahto & The Bull all take to the stage.
It was announced yesterday evening that Martin Hayes is also joining the Féile MOTH line-up. He'll be doing an exclusive 'In Conversation' with well-known Dublin historian Donal Fallon on the Saturday afternoon – and will also perform a solo set that evening.
