Following a sold-out tour across Ireland and the UK last December, Belfast folk outfit The Rapparees have just revealed an upcoming tribute tour honouring The Pogues with dates announced today for Mayo, Galway and Cork.
From humble beginnings nearly 15 years ago, The Rapparees impressively won the fanatic lottery when they were asked to support their idols The Pogues on tour. Drawing from this experience and in creating their own sound, the trad-folk outfit have been performing electrifying tribute gigs in homage to The Pogues since 2014. Ten years on and in excess of 30 sold-out shows later, their Christmas tribute gigs have become a time-honoured tradition in Belfast, Dublin and the UK.
This spring, The Rapparees are poised to embark on an another tour honouring the late Shane McGowan and The Pogues. Lauded for their unique and singular sound with their trademark 'rough and ready' stylings, with a Celtic sensibility apropos of their Irish-punk forefathers.
Tickets go on sale Thursday, 1st February and will be available at venues' respective box offices.
