It's nearly that time of year again... The Receipts will be celebrating with a special show at Barnacullia Pub on 19 December!
Get into the swing of Christmas, nestled in the Blue Light Pub in the Dublin mountains for The Receipts’ Christmas Party on Thursday the 19th of December from 8pm.
The Receipts formed 30 years ago in the nearby suburbs of Ballinteer and have since taken up a musical residency every Thursday evening and have been a huge draw to the Barnacullia Pub. The Receipts’ Christmas party promises to be a night of musical dedication and fun.
Playing their own original music from their latest albums and covers that include The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, the band light up The Blue Light every Thursday and are making the 19th of December a special Christmas party night.
Originally formed in 1990, The Receipts enjoyed great popularity and success for many years alongside bands such as LiR and The Coletranes, playing their original songs while touring Ireland and developing their own loyal fan base.
“Life just got in the way and we ended up taking a multiple-year hiatus to work on and through our own stuff,” Guitarist Ronan Clinton explained. The band reunited in 2016 after a throwaway text message from one to the rest.

“The songs just kept calling us back, we knew that we had something special and that we never got to put it on tape, that always stuck with us - I guess the road not travelled and all that...” says Clinton.
To get themselves back in musical shape, the band started playing some small venues throughout Ireland, this led to regular shows at the Blue Light Pub and Scholars in Dublin, where the band have built up a loyal fan base.
Their debut self-titled album has come about through passion, dedication, and ultimately a deep bond between Karl, Ronan, Paul and James. Reimagining their original material and also adding a few new creations, they have had the honour of working with some of the biggest names in the music industry such as the late and great Gavin Ralston of Silverwood Studios, Fiachra Trench (known for orchestrating ‘Fairytale of New York’ and ‘I don’t like Mondays’) and Chris Kimsey (most famous for co-producing with the Rolling Stones).
It has been an incredible journey that has even brought them to Abbey Road Studios for final mastering of this album.
They recently graced the front cover of Hot Press – check out the full cover story here.
