Hey, have you seen this new Dreamworks Pictures film, The Road To El Dorado? It’s actually really really fun, even if it is just a cartoon. I had to take my nephews to see it last week, and I think I actually enjoyed it more than they did!
Hey, have you seen this new Dreamworks Pictures film, The Road To El Dorado? It’s actually really really fun, even if it is just a cartoon. I had to take my nephews to see it last week, and I think I actually enjoyed it more than they did!
The soundtrack was definitely the best part, mind you – I was so impressed I went right out to the foyer after the movie and bought a copy for me and a copy for Sebastian and Philip.
I know it isn’t cool to like Elton John songs anymore, but I don’t see what the problem is – it’s only music, right? A lot of “trendy” people knock him because they’re jealous – I’d just like to see them sell as many records as Elton! If they’d put aside their prejudice for just a few minutes, and listen to a track like ‘The Panic In Me’ on a really good hi-fi, they might just find it’s not so terrible after all. The first time I heard Elton sing “In the trials of the present/No matter how low/You bring me such peace/And you won’t let me go” I thought of Maura, my fiancée, because that’s exactly the way it feels when we’re together.

But don’t worry, it’s not all serious, lovey-dovey stuff – there’s some great funny tracks too, although it helps if you’ve seen the film. My favourite line of the whole CD is “Just because we are Hispanic/Doesn’t mean we’re oceanic.”
Look, whatever you say about Elton John, he still knows how to write good tunes that aren’t too loud. And those crazy glasses!
