We get it. The Irish Charts aren't always the most exciting, nor are they by any means an official barometer for judging trends in Irish music, but when you have two hugely successful Irish bands who have just brought out new albums vying for the top spot, we do get a bit more intrigued by them. Listen, at least it's not fucking Ed Sheeran at the top for once.
The Script lay claim to No. 1 with their fifth studio album Freedom Child, which came out last week. They narrowly beat Athy duo Picture This - who are fresh from releasing their self-titled debut album. (As a consolation, Picture This' five-song EP - which a full YEAR OLD - is charting at No. 11).
Elsewhere, LCD Soundsystem mark their seven year absence by shooting to No. 3 with American Dream. Queens of the Stone Age's Villians slips to No. 5, while The War On Drugs' A Deeper Understanding moves from No. 4 to No. 7. XXXTENTACION's 17 comes in at No. 9.
