Went To Walk will be released this July 7.
Claudia Schwab, an Austrian singer, violinist, composer, and yodeller based in Sligo, has announced the release of her new album, Went To Walk, which will be released this July 7.
This will be the musician's third solo album, featuring folk-inspired songs with experimental elements. It draws inspiration from surrounding nature as well as Schwab's residencies in Crete, Austria, India, and Sri Lanka.
Schwab has shared the first song 'Went To Walk' off the LP. The self-titled track features collaborations from Jos Kelly (keys) and Matija Solce (accordion), Michael McGoldrick (flute/whistle) appears on the avant-garde yodel-trad experiment "Jodlphase."
Schwab additionally released the second track ‘Ois Z’Vü'. The song is written in her native Austrian dialect and features a rhythm collage made out of sound samples such as a wooden drawer, a crunched spinach bag, samples of space and nuclear alarms, a bulldog attack on her neighbour's tree, and her granny's old pendulum.
The Sligo-based musician will perform in several shows this year, including the Sligo Arts Festival on July 7.
