The Strokes' singles set is expected to drop on 24th February 2023, but is available to pre-order now.
The Strokes' fans are in for a treat this Christmas as the band announce a new vinyl box set of their singles released from 2001-2006. The 7” set of singles will include B-sides, demos and rarities, with tracks from the rock group’s first three albums, Is This It (2001), Room on Fire (2003) and First Impressions of the Earth (2006).
This comes off the back of The Strokes’ first Grammy win in 2021, having been nominated in the Best Rock Album category for The New Abnormal, released in 2020. Streamed online due to the Covid pandemic, the band's intermittent and glitchy connection made for a hilarious acceptance speech. With several second passing after the initial announcement, the three members had to repeatedly confirm amongst themselves if they had actually won the coveted award. Frontman Julian Casablancas then went on to give a short speech, "Magic is real, we believe in you...my mom...thank you for always being there for me."
The long-awaited award came 23 after the group's founding in 1998. At the time, The Strokes, from New York City were leaders in the early noughtie's indie-rock revival scene. Their 2001 album Is This It features some of their most-popular songs including its titular track, 'Is This It', 'Last Nite' and 'Someday'.
