The band return to their native Cork with an extra date added in the Cork Opera House due to phenomenal demand.
The Sultans of Ping have added an extra date to their 30th anniversary performances, after selling out the Cork Opera House in 48 hours.
Both Friday, February 10, and Saturday, February 11 (sold out), will feature different special guests making each show a unique one-off experience.
Formed in 1988 Cork by Niall O'Flaherty, Pat O'Connell, Paul Fennelly and Ger Lyons, Sultans of Ping F.C. came to the attention of the Irish and UK music press, when 'Where's Me Jumper', a quirky and eclectic slice of guitar driven indie-pop, crashed into the charts in 1992.
A series of incredible singles followed, alongside the band's absurd live shows. With memorable dress sense and an intelligent, coverage-friendly wit, the band signed to Epic Records and released their iconic debut album Casual Sex In The Cineplex.
Sultans of Ping F.C. tore across the music scene for several years, releasing follow up albums Teenage Drug, which included the classic 'Michiko', and Good Year for Trouble, whose artwork caused problems, as major record chains like HMV and Virgin called the display of bondage and S&M "too explicit."
The band went their separate ways in 1997, leaving an unfading mark on Irish and UK indie. Luckily, they reformed as The Sultans of Ping in 2005 with a lineup change, playing a number of gigs with Carter the Unstoppable Sex Machine. In 2006, the band released their live DVD U Talk 2 Much: Live At The Cork Savoy Theatre on Cherry Red Records.

Speaking about their upcoming shows in the Cork Opera House, drummer Morty McCarthy said: "Its our first time playing in Cork since 2014 and we are really excited to be playing Cork Opera House for the first time in the band's history."
The Sultans of Ping will be celebrating 30 years since the release of Casual Sex In The Cineplex and the band have said fans can expect tracks from their debut such as 'You Talk Too Much', 'Stupid Kid' and the timeless 'Veronica'.
Tickets for the additional date, Friday, February 10, are on sale Wednesday, August 17 at 10am through Ticketmaster.
