As a part of their 30th Anniversary tour for Casual Sex In The Cineplex, The Sultans of Ping F.C. are returning to Dublin next year for their first ever show at Vicar Street.
It's not news that Cork legends The Sultans of Ping F.C. are celebrating the 30th anniversary of their debut LP Casual Sex in the Cineplex - they have, after all, already sold out two shows at the Cork Opera House, one of which had been added because the first sold out in under 48 hours.
Now, however, the punk rock band has also announced plans to make their way to Dublin for a show at Vicar Street next year, on March 9th, 2024. Tickets went on sale this morning.
Casual Sex in the Cineplex wasn't just The Sultans of Ping's debut LP - it was the starting point for an era. Originally founded in 1988 by Niall O'Flaherty, Pat O'Connell, Paul Fennelly, and Ger Lyons, the band would go on to produce memorable albums like Teenage Drug and Good Year for Trouble.

So while it's a celebration recalling Casual Sex In The Cineplex and the LP's best hits (like 'Veronica,' 'Stupid Kid,' 'U Talk Too Much' and 'Where's Me Jumper') fans can also expect songs from the rest of The Sultans of Ping's catalogue.

It's their first show in Dublin since 2016, the over-18 event is sure to be historic. Morty McCarthy, The Sultans of Ping's drummer, excitedly mentioned that “the band played their first gig in Dublin way back in 1990 and have played many venues there over the years but we have never played in Vicar Street before so we are really looking forward to the show."
