The Unthanks have announced an Irish tour for November, 2024, in support of their upcoming double album In Winter. From 26-29 November, the band will traverse venues in Balbriggan, Belfast, Dublin and Cork.
Last year saw them saw them take in eight shows over nine days on the island, with the tour coming to a close at the Theatre Royal in Waterford.
The Unthanks is formed of Tyneside siblings Rachel and Becky Unthanks, as well as Barnsley composer, pianist and producer Adrian McNally. The outfit are known for their eclectic approach to traditional English folk, particularly Northumbrian folk music.

Their upcoming opus In Winter has been described in a statement as “an abstract new work that capt captures the warmth and nostalgia of the festive season, the chill and darkness of the winter months, and the reflective ritualisms of the turn of the year; the end and beginning of the circle of life.”
The record will also see the band experiment with a new sound palette, incorporating vibraphone, clarinet and saxophone.
With their songs appearing regularly across the BBC’s various radio stations, The Mercury Prize-nominated act have also been lauded by the likes of Elvis Costello, Mackenzie Crook, Nick Hornby, Martin Freeman, David Mitchell, Maxine Peake and many more.
