The bill for Folkfest in Killarney is taking serious shape, with the announcement that The Waterboys have been added to the list of headliners
The Waterboys have been announced as the Sunday headliner of Folkfest Killarney, which takes place from July 8 to 10, 2016. The band, led by songwriter and lead vocalist Mike Scott, returned to action in 2015 with the album Modern Blues, which peaked at No.10 in the Irish charts and at No.14 in the UK.
The Waterboys join a strong line-up for the Folkfest, which sees Damien Dempsey headline the Friday night and Christy Moore top the bill on Saturday. Christy will be joined on stage by a powerful line-up of traditional musicians, including accordeonist Máirtín O'Connor, Cathal Hayden, Seamie O'Dowd and Jim Higgins.
Also lined up to perform at the festival are Choice Music Award nominee Colm Mac Con Iomaire, Iarla O'Lionaird of Afro-Celt Sound System and The Gloaming, the Mike McGoldrick Big Band and Maria Doyle Kennedy. More acts will be announced as the year progresses.
