'The Weeknd Experience' was TikTok’s “first-ever in-app cross reality experience,” spanning 20 minutes in total.
The Weeknd hosted a virtual performance on Friday night entitled 'The Weeknd Experience' - an interactive, augmented-reality livestream over TikTok alongside Doja Cat.
The show was propped up by impressive 3D visuals, interactive voting, and miniature screens on which fans’ comments could be selected and projected onto.
Viewers watched the set from an audience’s perspective and had a hand in choosing which songs The Weeknd would later play.
With a setlist consisting of just five songs in total, The Weeknd sang the Black Panther soundtrack 'Pray for Me', his TikTok hit 'Blinding Lights', 'In Your Eyes' (feat. Doja Cat) and 'Save Your Tears' from his well-received After Hours record after singing 30 seconds of a previously unheard song.
For international viewers, 'The Weeknd Experience' is scheduled to be replayed on TikTok throughout the weekend at different times.

All proceeds from the exclusive merchandise will benefit the Equal Justice Initiative, on sale on The Weeknd's website now.
The Starboy singer's tour plans may be cancelled for the year, but the artist kept busy by releasing his deluxe edition of After Hours, making his Netflix debut in Uncut Gems alongside Adam Sandler, and sharing a posthumous collaboration with Juice WRLD called 'Smile'.
