The Wilde side of Dublin
'Gross Indecency' comes to Outhouse for Dublin Pride 2012
To celebrate Dublin Pride, LGBTQ drama ensemble Acting Out are staging ‘Gross Indecency’, a play about Dublin’s most famous gay man.
The play, by Moises Kaufman, weaves together original transcripts from the trials which ended Oscar Wilde’s career. Contemporary Ireland may recognise shades of the present in Victorian ‘moral outrages’ against homosexuals, alternative lifestyles and the dance of celebrity on the line between social life and social death.
