Derry quartet The Wood Burning Savages have announced the release of their upcoming studio album Hand to Mouth, set to come out on February 7, 2025.

They have also put out the accompanying opening track ‘Grind Your Teeth’, dubbed as the band’s “most frenetic release to date”, with frontman Paul Connolly commenting: “Yes, we’re angrier. Who isn’t?”

Hand to Mouth marks the follow-up to their Northern Ireland Album Of The Year debut record Stability.

The announcement comes a few days after Connolly publicly opened up about his health struggles, sharing on X that he had become “really, really ill” last year while getting back to touring.

He also said that he has now “figured out what it is” and “how to treat it,” without offering further details, but thanking the NHS staff in Altnagelvin Hospital who have looked – and continue to look – after him “brilliantly.”

“Genuinely,” Connolly said, “without them I don't think I’d still be here, so I owe them my life and I cannot begin to thank them enough."
