The new record will follow up 2017’s Songs Of Experience.
The Edge has revealed that U2 are currently working on a new album following the release of their first single in 2 years ‘Your Song Saved My Life.’
In an interview with Rolling Stone, The Edge remarked that he had been working with bassist Adam Clayton on a new song.
“We are firmly locked in the tower of song and working away on a bunch of new things,” he said. “I’m just having so much fun writing and not necessarily having to think about where it’s going to go. It's more about enjoying the experience of writing and having no expectations or limitations on the process.”
The guitarist pointed out that the band hadn’t settled on any producers yet. “I so enjoyed working with Martin Garrix,” he said. U2 worked with the Dutch DJ on the anthemic Uefa Euro 2020 song ‘We Are The People.’
“I hope to work with him in the future. But we haven’t made any firm decisions on what the next thing will be in terms of personnel. I just don’t know.”

The Edge also said that he is open to the idea of celebrating the 30th anniversary of Zoo Tv by bringing it back on the road. U2 played at stadiums and arenas between 1992–93 as part of the tour which supported their 1991 album Achtung Baby.
“I would love that and I couldn’t rule it out,” he said. “I think [Zoo TV] is such a current thought. Back then we were dealing with the overload and kind of the whiplash of 24/7 news cycles, which hadn’t been known before.”
“It was the overload of cable TV and hundreds and hundreds of channels. And little did we know that that was just the beginning of this avalanche of channels to kind of draw your attention.”
“And so, yeah, I think Zoo TV could absolutely come back and be just as relevant. But we haven’t actually got to the point of doing anything more than this kind of talk, but I wouldn’t rule it out again,” he added.
U2 recently announced plans to honour the 30th anniversary edition of Achtung Baby with a special vinyl release and huge digital box set. The 30th anniversary edition of the iconic band’s seventh album dropped on November 19th.
The band will continue the celebrations by sharing a 50-track digital box set of the LP which will include remixes and B-sides.
In other U2 news, a 1976 Gibson Explorer Electric Guitar played by The Edge during The Joshua Tree era recently sold for $437,500. The guitar was sold at an auction in the United States where guitars used by Eric Clapton, David Gilmour and Amy Winehouse garnered over $5 million.

U2’s latest single ‘Your Song Saved My Life’ is taken from the upcoming film Sing 2. Bono will feature in the film as the voice of "lion rock legend Clay Calloway" – an artist "who shut himself away from the world more than a decade ago after the loss of his wife and hasn't been seen since."
