The Beyond The Pale festival has announced this year's arts programme featuring brand new art exhibitions.
The Beyond The Pale festival has announced its arts programme for this year's festival.
This year's three-day festival will include new exhibitions such as 'SUN-STOP' – a contemporary reimagining of a neolithic stone circle designed by award-winning architects James Martin & Eibhlín Ní Chathasaigh. The exhibition coincides with the summer solstice and will include a spoken word ritual as well special guests on the Friday night of the festival.
'Intrude' by Amanda Parer is also at this year's festival; the exhibition features an army of five 23 ft high illuminated rabbits. Speaking of her exhibition, Parer said, "Intrude deliberately leans on this cutesy image coupled with a strong visual humour, to lure the audience into the artwork only to reveal the more serious environmental messages which form the basis of the work".
Other acts in this year's arts programme include THISISPOPBABY, which will headline a late-night cabaret programme.
Penos with Bohs, a new act that will allow festival goers to take shots against one of Bohs' players in support of Palestine will be included at the festival.

There will also be opportunities to bird watch, play ancient Irish games and work shop an onstage rap alongside Kabin Crew, a young hip hop group from Cork.
Arts Programme Director Jennifer Jennings had this to say about this year's art lineup, "This year's lineup is full of many of the best artists and performers on the island today, who are guaranteed to have you rolling around the place laughing, dancing your socks off, profoundly moved or indeed utterly gobsmacked many times over the weekend."
The festival will take place in its usual spot, Glendalough Estate, in Wicklow, between June 21 and 23 and features headline acts such as Jungle, Jessie Ware, and Orbital.
Weekend tickets start at €249; day tickets cost €99.50 for adults and €24.50 for kids per day plus booking fee. Tickets are available here.
