!!!: Thr!!!er
Electrifying dance-punk action...
Having released a string of excellent albums and delivered consistently terrific live shows, Sacramento dance-punks !!! have to be one of the most underrated groups extant. Thr!!!er, their fifth album, continues their excellent output, offering another electrifying mix of punk-funk grooves and full-on electro action.
Opener ‘Even When The Water’s Cold’ is propelled by an irresistible groove and features a memorable chorus, with vocalist Nic Offer doing a nifty Scott Walker impression on the verses. ‘Get That Rhythm Right’, perhaps the standout track, has a brilliant house rhythm and some lovely jazz saxophone, while ‘Except Death’ finds !!! trying on some Prince-like grooves for size. Overall, another exceptional effort. It would be great to see Offer and co get the wider recognition they so richly deserve.
Key Track: ‘Get That Rhythm Right’
