The American guitarist, singer and songwriter has been dealing with an ongoing heart condition and has been advised not to travel.
Former Sonic Youth member, Thurston Moore, recently announced that he had to cancel his book tour for his memoir Sonic Life after “a longstanding health condition” became “rather, and consistently, debilitating.”
Moore revealed in an interview with The New York Times that he’s been living with the common heart rhythm abnormality atrial fibrillation for several years. “But this year, it became slightly concerning,” Moore explained. “I was finding myself at times to be so weak I could hardly walk around the neighbourhood.”
He had been urged by his doctor not to fly as he awaited treatment. “The prognosis is very good,” Moore said as plans on visiting the UK next month for book events.

When asked about a Sonic Youth reunion he admitted: “I don’t foresee it happening because I think maybe it’s a little too unwieldy at this point.”
Sonic Life is out on October 24 via Doubleday.
