The frontman of Australian folk rock band The Whitlams will be playing the Whelan’s Main Venue on July 17.
Tim Freedman, lead singer, songwriter and pianist in the Australian band The Whitlams, has announced a gig in Whelan’s Main Stage on July 17.
The musician will perform his extensive nine album repertoire, accompanied by pedal steel and electric guitarist Ollie Thorpe.
Named after Australia’s Labor Prime Minister Gough Whitlam who roused the country from its slumber in 1972, The Whitlams released five Gold and Platinum albums in a row from 1995 to 2006, and then took a creative break until two years ago.

Since 2022, Freedman has been leading The Whitlams in a resurgence, touring heavily and releasing two new albums, namely Sancho in 2022 and Kookaburra this year.
Freedman has also started to perform in duo mode with Thorpe, playing a selection of songs from both incarnations of the band.
Tickets to Freedman’s Whelan’s show sell for €20 and are available here.
