Ryan’s accordion and Peoples’ fiddle mesh gloriously, set off by backing from guitarist Donncha Moynihan, Cyril O’Donoghue on bouzouki, and John Moloney on bodhrán. What’s special here are the original tunes by Peoples. The lively reel ‘Runs In The Family’ is a reference not to the talent Siobhán inherited from her father, fiddler Tommy Peoples of Bothy Band fame, but rather to “an unrepeatable quote from Murty’s five-year-old niece Tara, involving several sudden dashes to the toilet!” On a more sombre note, ‘Feileacán Na Fuascailte’ is a beautiful slow air that Peoples wrote after her brother’s suicide in 1990.
