The sunny south-east is living up to its reputation again this afternoon and it’s set to be another spectacular day here at Curraghmore House - and already there have been some real moments to savour.
Perhaps it’s the heat driving everyone out of the tents, perhaps people are lured in to explore the gorgeous food options in the surrounding Lawns of Tranquillity, but the midday brunch with Reggie Watts at the Belonging Bandstand proved to be an (avocado) smash.
Putting such a big name on your bill on at midday is a risky gambit, but Watts handled the set with aplomb - this was no traditional festival afternoon spent leisurely lounging on the ground taking in a gospel choir or the like.
Watts’ skill as a beatboxer and looper is hard to ignore and his energy is infectious, even at this hour - it’s standing room only, and many a picnic table is commandeered as a viewing platform.
The performance is a real boon to the surrounding food merchants - shoutouts to the Grilled Cheese and Vegan Sushi Roll stands are incorporated into his loops.

As much as a feast this brunch was, it’s only whetted our appetite for later. Jape, Roisin Murphy and Underworld will rock the main stage, while the other stages are jam-packed too - Booka Shade, Yasiin Bey and Shanti Celeste will keep us moving all night.
Be sure to call into the Hot Press Acoustic Stage/Speakeasy where we’ve got a packed lineup of interviews and acoustic sets all day. We’ve got Patrick McDonnell, Malojian, John Colleary, Basciville and Booka Shade in for some chats, while Basciville, Brigid Mae Power, Clare Sands, Mongoose, Newfoundland and OJO will be tenderly serenading us throughout the night.
Do look out for our lovely photographers too, who'll give you the opportunity to get your face on the cover of Hot Press!
