Metalheads Tool say they have "20 potential song ideas" for long overdue fifth studio album
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Tool guitarist Adam Jones provided an update on the band's upcoming LP, saying that the album was "going well."
"Things are really flowing and going really well, and I'm just blown away at the stuff that's coming together. I'm excited and can't wait for it to be done," Jones said.
The band currently has 20 song ideas to play with, the best of which should end up on the new LP.
"Of course, 20 won't be on the record," he said. "We're just jamming. But I'll tell you, there's nothing better than having too many good songs then not enough. It's great."
It's been a while since we've heard anything new from Tool; the last album was 2006's 10,000 Days. However, the boys DID play a new song, a little jam they call "Descending" while performing at Monster Mash in Arizona on Halloween.
"That one's just a little taste of things to come," Jones said.
Tool will be touring the States with Primus in January 2016. In the meantime, have a listen to "Descending" below.
