The American singer-songwriter covered O'Connor's 'I Am Stretched On Your Grave' and 'Three Babies' in honor of the late Irish icon.
The American singer Tori Amos added her voice to the thousands of tributes to Sinéad O'Connor that have been pouring in since the news of her death was announced Wednesday evening.
She performed two of O'Connor's songs, 'I Am Stretched On Your Grave' and 'Three Babies' at her San Fransisco concert Thursday night and dedicated it to the late Irish icon. Both songs were taken from O'Connor's 1990 breakout album I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got.
“This is a person who’s powerful, who wrote incredible music, and we honor her tonight,” Amos told the crowd before launching into the covers. She also referenced O'Connor's activism against the Catholic church, praising her for speaking out against the abuse within.
Amos also took to twitter in the hours following the announcement of O'Connor's death, sharing her sadness at the news of her passing. "Sinead was a force of nature. A brilliant songwriter & performer whose talent we will not see the like of again," she wrote. "Such passion, such intense presence & a beautiful soul, who battled her own personal demons courageously."
