Tracer AMC join And So I Watch You From Afar for a dual headliner in the Boom Boom Room this weekend.
Post-rock legends Tracer AMC along with in-the-making And So I Watch You From Afar are gearing up for an incendiary dual headliner at the Boom Boom Room this Friday 16 May.
Some months ago Hot Press brought you news of an Irish installation of famed London Club AC30. Already established amongst the shoegaze/post-rock fraternity through a series of prolific gigs, this Friday sees the most daring and exclusive AC30 Dublin to date as ordinary structures and protocol of live music are stripped away.
Both hailing from Northern Ireland and electing to produce music catalogued within the same genre classification, each band stands a foot apart in originality.
Blissfully meandering, championed by the late John Peel and hugely successful in Japan, Tracer AMC follow up the frenzy of 2005's Islands (a breathtaking record of delicate noise that reverbated miles beyond the venue on its launch night) with new material after a short hiatus to concentrate on side-projects (Julip, Heliopause).
Hot on their heels with a string of British dates and press (NME, Kerrrang, Metal Hammer) under their belts are And So I Watch You From Afar; their vigorous, almost military refrains providing a distinct contrast to Tracer's ethereal stylings.
Provident intervention from AC30 Dublin ensures electrifying, post-rock perfection in accommodating both acts on the night, neither band having played Dublin in an age. Never before has the headline at an AC30 billing been shared and this instance is also a mark of progress and potential on the part of ASIWYFA: never before have they headlined alongside Tracer AMC, undoubtably a milestone marker of their career.
This will be a gig with a difference: No support bands, no DJ intervals, no frills: perfectly suited to live post-rock performances, each band will take to the stage for an hour-long set in the new Boom Boom Room at Murrays' of O'Connell Street.
Cork, Galway, Belfast: get your earplugs out!
