16-year-old Ava Archbold's debut ballad 'Mist' is ethereal and melancholic.
16-year-old Clonakilty-based singer-songwriter Ava Archbold recently released gloomy and entrancing debut single ‘Mist.’ She has been writing original songs since the age of 14 and the self-released track is her first taste of the world of recording and releasing music.
The melancholic ballad begins quietly, showcasing Archbold’s ethereal voice complimented by a crisp guitar melody and bare-bones drum beat. The track builds in complexity and intensity as it approaches the end, reaching a climax near the 3-minute mark. She sings of feelings of homesickness and being lost.
Archbold hopes to stray from topics such as "stereotypical teenage first love," instead focusing on darker themes like "murder ballads." She grew up surrounded by musicians and developed her love for performing in small acoustic sessions around West Cork. Archbold has since supported the likes of Jack Lukeman and Hudson Taylor alongside her brother and plans to continue playing more shows following the single's release.
