20 year old Rio and Gerard are two pop artists who hail from Belfast. Together they form Dark Tropics. The pair's first release as a band is 'Badlands', a dark and delicate, piano-driven tune.

The vieo, which takes place inside an old mansion, is equally gothic.

"Our writing process is very relaxed and very much 'what works, what doesn’t'", says Rio. "It’s surprisingly efficient and very therapeutic! While 'Badlands' started with the lyrics being shaped around the music, when the piano was added and the sound ultimately changed- the music followed the lyrics".
