Ireland's top rising star starts the New Year off right with a hair-raising new track.
It's been two fantastic years for Dermot Kennedy, the Irish artist who first shot to the limelight with tracks like 'After Rain' and 'Glory'.
Now, with 2019 just getting underway, Mr. Kennedy is set to cement his place as one of Ireland's best artists. The singer-songwriter was given some massive news just yesterday, when he was announced for America's biggest music festival Coachchella. He's now followed this up by releasing a collection of 12 songs, as well as his new track 'For Island Fires and Family'.
Thank you to every person who's come to a show and listened to my music. I wanted to start the new year by bringing together all the songs you've been singing back to me in one collection. As well as that, right now I want to share 'For Island Fires and Family' with you. pic.twitter.com/5SVbFTMXcG

The song sets up Kennedy as a lonely spectre, singing against subtle guitar chords and his own backing vocals about the people who've carried him, the people he's loved, and the people he's lost. Much like all of Kennedy's tracks we've heard thus far, it oozes with an arresting, affecting passion and gives free rein to his rugged yet vulnerable voice.
