Nathan Mac has two performances coming up in September.
This soulful and warmhearted track is perfect to feel cosy in this overcast weather today, miserly with the sunshine.
The song is chock full of melancholic emotions and intimate acoustics, Nathan Mac is reminiscent of a re-born Elliott Smith or a Lisa Hannigan, the sorrowful instrumentals tug at heartstrings.
Mac perfectly captures the potent feeling of missing somebody before they have even taken their company elsewhere. The lyrics: "Sway me like your soul is inflating / Take me in the cradle of your arms / Collect your charms and bottle them for me", accurately describes the prophetic loneliness one feels with a loved one.
The Dubliner actually had a different singer in mind for this track, the late and great Frank Sinatra. Although Sinatra is unlikely to bring his take to the song anytime soon, Mac took tips from Ol' Blue Eyes on how to connect with audiences.
“It’s the intimacy that Frank had," Mac says. "I’m hoping to use a similar intimacy to strike a chord with people.”
