The track is the first release from his forthcoming collaborative project Cocoon.
Slated to become the 'next big thing' in Irish hip-hop, Malaki is slowly releasing the contents of his sophomore project over the course of ten weeks.
The first single, out on all streaming platforms Friday (April 17) features Lucy McWilliams on a truly gorgeous vocal, and of course, longtime collaborator Matthew Harris. McWilliams is a student at the Berlin School of Music, and Harris is a formidable musician without whom Malaki would not exist. The two have collaborated on every release since Malaki's inception.
"Cocoon is an attempt to connect, to reach out, to hold on, to run towards the exciting and the strange amidst the uncertainty, and to embrace it. Community is everything. Communication and care has never been more vital", the recent ATC Live signee said in a statement about the project on Instagram.
Each track from the exciting project is a collaboration with a different musician or rapper, and each single artwork will be designed by a different local artist, "giving artists and designers an opportunity to maintain a creative output". The 'Fair Play' artwork was designed by Harriet Yakub. Keep an eye on Malaki's Instagram over the next few weeks as he shares more information about all of the collaborators on Cocoon.
