Clondalkin producer Marcus Woods pushes through genre barriers on his latest single.
Since releasing his debut album ‘Demo’ last October, 18-year-old Ryan Cullen, known professionally as Marcus Woods, has continued to nurture and expand his experimental electronic sound.
Pulling from a wide range of styles, including ambient soundscapes and trap undertones, his latest offering, ‘Saturn V’, delves into the concept of space exploration. The theme fits nicely with Woods’ efforts to continue reinventing his style, as he tries to avoid tying himself down to one clear cut genre.
Woods hopes that ‘Saturn V’, titled after the NASA rocket that launched astronauts to the moon on the Apollo missions, will likewise catapult his work into a new direction. He describes the single as “a foundation of what I plan to create throughout the year.”
The single is released through Burner Records, a label Woods set up alongside Sick Nanely, FYNCH, ARBU and Local Boy.
You can Woods at the Grand Social on January 24, where he and the Burner crew will be supporting Dublin rapper Rebel Phoenix. Tickets are available on Eventbrite.
