INSIDEAWAVE return with a lush, new single in time for upcoming summer festivals.
Dublin 5-piece INSIDEAWAVE have followed up their 2018 release Matchsticks/Nick Francisco with a new single entitled ‘Organ.’ The track sees the band sharpen their sound, honing in on the melodic production and ballad-oriented indie songwriting of their past work. There’s a clear Grizzly Bear influence in the vocals, which expand and contract patiently even as the instrumental surrounding them continues to grow. Co-producer Cormac Butler brings an array of synthesizers, samples, and lo-fi sounds to the table, helping to arrange it all into a sonically cohesive whole.

Nature imagery features heavily in the lyrics, with the more oblique poetics contrasted by some plain, self-effacing questions in the hook. Though the songwriting itself never quite matches the M83-ish stadium electronica of the production, it holds it all together to the end, and provides a platform for some very solid vocal melodies.

Since releasing their second project last year INSIDEAWAVE has been named one of Wheelan’s “Ones To Watch” and have played a great deal of shows around Dublin and the rest of Ireland including Wheelan’s, The Grand Social, The Workman’s Club, and The Wiley Fox. They also recently performed live on radio shows such as “The Colm and Lucy Breakfast Show” with Lucy Kennedy and Colm Hayes and “Locals Only” with Gavin Glass. You can also catch them performing at the Forbidden Fruit festival in June.
