After a three-year hiatus from releasing music, Dublin artist Rachael Lavelle is back with a brand new single and accompanying live video in the form of 'Eat Clean'.
2015 was the last sign of new material from Lavelle, who released her debut EP Superman and followed that up by supporting and performing with the likes of Saint Sister, Jacob Collier, Téada Orchestra and Glasshouse Ensemble, as well as headlining shows of her own at Whelan's and beyond. Also an accomplished composer, she's an active member of the Irish Composers' Collective, and proceeded to receive an M.Phil in Music and Media Technologies from Trinity College in 2016, fittingly specialising in composition.
An elegant singer and pianist, her classically-trained background was one of the foremost prominent fixtures of her style, though judging from this release she has spent her time off honing herself sonically. With those same elements still present, 'Eat Clean' provides a more electronic sound with a darker edge than her previous releases.
Speaking on the song's content, she revealed that: "It is a reaction to the expectations and pressures we put on ourselves, stuck on a treadmill of constantly feeling like we are not doing enough."
