Track of the Day: Restive Nation - The Exorcist Theme
Today's track is a cover of 'The Exorcist Theme' by local band Restive Nation.
Dublin-based band Restive Nation released their own version of 'The Exorcist Theme'. The cover was inspired by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross's version of John Carpenter's Halloween theme in 2017.
The band admit the original theme is "a piece of music that [they] love and wanted to make [their] own imagining of." Mike Oldfield released 'Tubular Bells' in 1973, which later became known as 'The Exorcist Theme'. In releasing their cover version, the band have put their own spin on the well-known theme. Mixing in their own electronic rock sound, it is brought into the 21st century.
The passion project continued for the group as they brought out an accompanying music video for the cover. Produced and directed by Zoe Kavanagh, the video was recorded earlier this year. Featuring some frightening characters it was kind of Dublin Bus to allow the group to shoot scenes guerrilla style on a Saturday afternoon in August. The music video captures the essence of Halloween; energetic and fun.
