Since winning the 2017 Choice Music Prize, West of Ireland trio Rusango Family have been pursuing separate creative endeavours and ‘Crown’ is the culmination of God Knows’ efforts. In the rapper’s first solo release, God Knows gives a shout-out to some of the premiere Irish names making the hip-hop scene a thrive. Among these names are Kojaque, Jafaris, JyellowL and Same D4ence as well as international names including Childish Gambino, 2Pac and Kendrick Lamar.

Speaking on the track, God Knows has said ‘Crown’ is a song about shedding light. “Whether that’s me pointing out what’s happening in the country of my birth or paying homage to the current flourishing music scene her in Ireland. I see kings and queens of all walks of life make moves, regardless of the cards they’ve been dealt, and that’s inspiring”.

The track was recorded in Berlin in collaboration with French producer and singer Awir Leon. The song even features an appearance from Rusango’s Murli! Check out the track below and make sure to keep an ear out for a mention of your favourite Irish hip-hop artists.
