Following the release of their critically acclaimed debut EP, Given Up, whenyoung have returned with new single, ‘Never Let Go’.
Having found acclaim for their joyous indie-pop style on songs like 'Actor' and 'Pretty Pure', 'Never Let Go' sees the band expanding into the realm of punchy, earnest, rousing rock.
“It’s a song about mental health and hope” explains frotwoman Aoife Power. “It’s a message to let people know that you can share your pain with others. It's a reminder that someone is always there for you even in the darkest times. There is always a reason to not let go."
2018 was a pivotal year for whenyoung. They started the year by performing as part of Shane Mcgowan's 60th birthday celebration alongside the likes Nick Cave and Sinead O'Connor; they then opened for Nick Cave and Patti Smith several months later in Kilmainham (we caught up with them the day after that particular gig, you can read the interview here).
The trio also played a stunning set at Other Voices festival, made waves across the Irish festival circuit throughout the summer, and have supported the likes of Dream Wife, The Vaccines and Blossoms in recent months.
Not one to rest on their laurels, the band are kicking off 2019 with a UK tour in February, including the bands biggest headline show in London to date at the Electrowerkz in Angel. They'll also be looking to break into the European music world with gigs lined up at Eurosonic Festival, as well as a slot at the iconic South by South West Festival in Austin,Texas.
