The Dubliner's debut single sets a strong precedent.
Though a long time in the making, 25-year old Rathfarnham singer-songwriter Zapho's debut looks to have been worth the wait after the release of 'Do Like I Do'.
The track is the result of extensive work spent writing and recording over the past year, and represents the first release of what is to be a busy next six months for the artist, who plans to progressively filter out more songs, accompanying videos and the occasional remix in that time frame.
'Do Like I Do' is a more than encouraging start, and was both written and recorded by Zapho with the help of producers in Steve McCann, Andy Savours and Steve Osbourne. The polished soul-infused electro-pop sounds are accompanied by lyrics that exude self-confidence, and convey the message that the "feeling of doing whatever we want to do, whenever we want to do it while owning the confidence of knowing you're great at what you do" is one to be celebrated.
The single comes ahead of a headline show for Zapho at The Grand Social in Dublin on the 21st of this month, where she'll be joined by a "7-piece extravaganza" of a band, consisting of everything from guitars to violins to backing vocals to live mixing. Tickets for what promises to be a memorable experience are priced at €10 and are available from here.
