The fifth single from 1000 Beasts' upcoming debut album, Naruda, the track is co-written by fellow artists Orla Gartland and April.
For his latest collaboration, 1000 Beasts has today released new single 'I Wish', featuring Carrie. It's the newest release from the project by Irish producer/artist Cian Sweeney, who collaborates with different artists on every track (the many 'beasts' behind the name).
The fifth single from Naruda, 1000 Beasts' highly anticipated debut album which is set to be released in April 2022, 'I Wish' is a soulful R&B infused track featuring the vocal talents of Waterford singer Carrie, and is co-written by Orla Gartland and April. Check out the dreamy official music video, directed by Paul Mahon with creative direction from Stephanie Naughter (Jafaris, Soule, RUSHES), below.
'I Wish' was written back in 2019 during a writing trip to London with April and Orla Gartland, according to 1000 Beasts, making it one of the oldest tracks on the forthcoming album. "I always knew it was a little different to everything else on the album, being a lilting waltz, so I always had it in my mind that it would go as the last track on the album," he explained.
"When lockdown rolled around, we had only just started to get the live show on the road of course Carrie is the live vocalist for those shows. It became really obvious to me after one or two gigs that I really wanted to find a way to include her voice and her talent on the album and this track was the answer. We played it live a handful of times already, closing the show with it by getting the crowd to sing along to the harmonies at the end & it always went down a real treat. I asked her if she'd be interested in making it her own and she accepted saying it was her favourite track to perform live, it was that easy really."
Hailing from Waterford, Carrie is a talented young artist, with powerful vocals and an ability to pull her listeners in and that makes her stand out amongst the sea of talent in the Irish music scene. Having developed her voice and skills as a songwriter herself studying Popular Music in the Cork School of Music, she began touring with 1000 Beasts as part of his live band after she featured on ‘Want’ in 2019, and jumped at the opportunity to feature on 'I Wish' when approached by him.

"Recording the track with Cian was an incredible experience," says Carrie of the track. "Although I didn’t write the lyrics, I felt every word as if they were my own."
