"It's definitely the heaviest song yet and already a hit at my live shows. I can't wait for people to hear this one," AILSHA says of her latest single. Listen to 'MEOW' below.
"Give me a reason why I should come down to Earth, if you won't look at me when you're my universe," Ailsha Davey, aka AILSHA, sings on her latest track 'MEOW'.
A blend of heaving guitar riffs, double kicks and deftly-penned lyricism, the single centres on the day-to-day life of AILSHA's beloved, "but annoying," pet cat Nugget. Boasting three legs and a tonne of attitude, 'MEOW' chronicles Nugget's demands for constant affection and her persistent pursuit of boundless attention.
The single comes fresh on the heels of two successful singles, ''Haunted' and 'Go Tobann'. The latter brought the artist to the international stage in the Eurosong National Final, where AILSHA was runner-up to Bambie Thug's 'Doomsday Blue'. Elsewhere, the Wicklow singer-songwriter's music has earned inclusion in Spotify editorial playlists and received airplay on BBC Radio 1.
"'MEOW' was a fun song to create and was inspired by my cat Nugget's constant demands for attention," AILSHA says. "I wanted to write the song from her perspective which I feel applies to most pets - they're only here for a short time, but a good time, and within that short time we become their whole world."

"I wanted to sing/scream the lyrics in a way I imagine she would if she could and I tried things with my vocals that I hadn't tried in a track before," the singer continues. "It's definitely the heaviest song yet and already a hit at my live shows- I can't wait for people to hear this one."
