The bilingual genre traversing track is the debut release from the Cork-Kerry artists.
An ethereal offering from the joint collaborative project of Kalabanx and Amano, 'SOUTHWIND' is an Irish language electronic single.
Perhaps most aptly described as cyber-sean nós, 'SOUTHWIND' fuses electronic beats with spoken word and Amano's angelic vocals.
On 'SOUTHWIND' Amano’s lyrics and vocal acrobatics are designed to channel the spirit of Éirú, and intend to challenge listeners to remember their soul’s purpose.
In the single, Kalabanx sampled Iarla Ó’Lionáird’s song ‘Stay’ from the 2011 album ‘Foxlight’, resulting in the track's dark and dynamic beat.
An almost icy electronic single, 'SOUTHWIND''s piercing lyrics ask the listener (in Irish) if they lost their heart and their tongue?

The lyrics serve as a powerful reminder of the age old sean fhocail '"Tír gan tanga, tír gan anam" (a country without a language is a country without a soul).
'SOUTHWIND' is the first release off of the pair's upcoming debut EP THREAD, - an Irish language project that weaves together sean-nós, triphop, electronica, pop and DnB (drum and bass) into emotive and dance-floor-filling new soundscapes.
Speaking of the language, Amano said: "The divine feminine wisdom of language and land was a massive presence throughout the recording process."
The EP will be released in full in summer 2024 and includes contributions from Liam Ó’Maonlaí and Rónán Ó’Snodaigh.
Fans of Irish music may know Kalabanx considerable production chops for his work on Cork tween viral hit 'The Spark', which has amassed millions of likes and listens on social media.
