Aoife Wolf makes an eagerly-awaited return with her latest single ‘Bristle of Delusion’
Aoife Wolf is back, following an eagerly-awaited return, with her latest single ‘Bristle of Delusion’.
With haunting vocals and pulverising riffage, the track arose from a period of intense creativity and introspective reflection to deliver a five-minute freight train of endless ascension.
‘Bristle of Delusion’ scintillates in its consistent ebb-and-flow soundscape of minimalist instrumentation, as it casts a smouldering spell that lingers long after the final note fades into the abyss.
“‘Bristle’ is the first single from my latest project,” Wolf says, “which was born out of a state of anger and frustration amidst the strange and bewildering experience of inhabiting a woman's body.
“To live within a rich and complex inner world, but being coveted simply on the allure of the female anatomy that is so powerful as to drive many to deceit or violence. I wanted to juxtapose the vulnerability in my vocals with the heavy guitar tone to express the confusion of feeling at once both defiant and disarmed.”
Fresh off performances in Berlin, supporting My Bloody Valentine’s Deb Googe, and a standout show at Inishbofin Arts Festival, Wolf’s star continues to soar, following singles including last year’s critically praised ‘A Ringing in the Ear.’ With upcoming performances in London, Dublin, and Cork, she is poised for another enthralling chapter.

Accompanied by searing strings and some of her most exquisite harmonies to date, Wolf’s latest offering draws from a well of deeply personal, yet universal emotions and experiences.
With ‘Bristle of Delusion’, Aoife Wolf situates herself among Ireland’s most compelling music exports, once more mining the depths of the human experience to summon something as bewitching as it is raw.
The single also comes just before Wolf is due to perform Workmans Cellar tonight as part of the Bram Stoker Festival's now sold-out "SCANRA: Samhain at the Cellar" showcase.
