'Venom' marks the debut single from the young band.
Dublin-based band Avenue 68 have released their debut single ‘Venom’. The song is a R&B powered soul track, telling the story of a toxic relationship and the emotional turmoil it can bring.
The tune features smooth melodies and silky vocals, driven by strong offbeat jazz influenced drums. Taking inspiration from musicians such as Erykah Badu and D’Angelo, this song is sexy and soulful, featuring intricate guitar motifs.
‘Venom’ captures the struggles of recognising a relationship may be causing more harm than good, and follows a journey through realising they have to break from the poisonous grip a lover has on them. As said by the band ,“It is a raw and relatable anthem for anyone who has faced the challenge of letting go.”
Despite only forming recently, Avenue 68 have a developed sound and are set to be a welcome edition to Dublin's healthy R&B and soul scene alongside acts such as Bricknasty and MOIO.
