Dublin folk band Blue Fish Diamond have released their latest indie banger, entitled ‘Servants To The Hand’.
Blue Fish Diamond, a rising indie-folk outfit based in Dublin, have released their newest single, ‘Servants To The Hand’, just after a stellar launch gig at Workman’s Cellar last night.
A social commentary on the rise of right-wing extremism in recent years, ‘Servants To The Hand’ decries the growing prevalence of disinformation across far-right media platforms, repeating the ominous tagline “we know what you’re trying to sell us is fear.”
“We live in an era where disinformation is rife and can spread like wildfire on social media,” said lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Jim Murphy. “Preying on vulnerability and a sense of disenfranchisement, invisible hands pull the strings to further their right-wing agendas.
“In Ireland, we saw this string-pulling lead to a night of rioting and looting in Dublin before Christmas and more recently to a spate of arson attacks on properties rumoured to be earmarked as accommodation for asylum seekers.”
Produced by Gavin Glass at Orphan Recording Studios, ‘Servants To The Hand’ was co-written by Murphy and Mark Keogh, with Matilda O’Mahony singing backing vocals, Laura Ryder on keys, Axel McDonald on lead guitar, Ronan Quinn on bass and Shay Sweeney on drums.

Blue Fish Diamond have been an enduring force on the Irish music scene since the release of their debut album, From Dark to Light, back in 2018. Drawing influence from the likes of Tom Petty, R.E.M., The Beatles and Paul Simon, the Dublin rockers have been seen in venues across the country, including hometown favourites Whelan's, Workman’s Cellar and The Grand Social.
The band will appear later tonight at Garbos Venue in Castlebar in celebration of their new release.
