The band blends new wave and shoegaze on their new track, showcasing catchy guitar motifs from Pierce Devine and raw vocals from lead singer John Harney.
Kildare four-piece Blue Slate have shared new single ‘Charlotte’s Song’, taken from their newly announced debut EP This Is How I Sleep at Night.
The track sees the band blend new wave and shoegaze, showcasing catchy guitar motifs from Pierce Devine and raw vocals from lead singer John Harney. The energetic rhythm section meanwhile, consisting of Bassist James Hargreaves and drummer Tim Tora, keep a insistent pace going under the song's lyrical honesty.
Blue Slate explained, “With ‘Charlotte’s Song’, we decided to strip back the noise and allow vulnerability to come through. This track represents a very particular point in our lives and is an ode to that time, serving as a reminder to never forget and always be grateful for what you have in your life.”
Blue Slate formed in 2023 and featured on Hot Press' Hot for 2024 list. They have also toured across Europe, playing headline shows and festivals such as Left of the Dial in Rotterdam.
