Speaking on the remix, Kitt said: "When I got the song I thought it was a beautiful sentiment and I wanted to do justice to that".
In March of this year Bren Berry delivered an infectious rom-song called 'Beautiful Losers' as a gift to his wife Karen to mark their 25th wedding anniversary.
This week that same song reappears in the form of a cinematic Balearic overhaul from acclaimed producer/songwriter David Kitt (aka New Jackson).
Both artists hail from South Dublin suburb of Ballinteer, where Berry formed The Coletranes, later becoming influential guitar-band Revelino.
Berry stated his admiration for Kitt, saying “Kittser’s career was only taking off as Revelino were breaking up and I was giving up on music so we never crossed paths as musicians, but I’ve always been a massive fan".
"He approaches music in a very different way than me and uses a different palette, so I stayed out of the way and gave him full freedom and artistic licence with it. He’s done a really stunning job on this remix with an amazing blend of his David Kitt & New Jackson hats. I’m delighted and grateful and hope we get a chance to work together again.”

“I was a big Revelino fan and went to see them a few times when I was in college,” explains David. “You can hear Bren’s speaking voice in his singing voice which I always love and you can hear the Ballinteer in there too".
The pair bonded over their shared home: "We're both from Ballinteer and my dad taught Brendan Tallon [of Revelino] guitar - most Ballinteer bands around that time had at least one member who my dad had taught guitar to. As a teenager I used to see Coletranes and The Idiots stickers on bus stops and lampposts, they felt like mythical folk heroes to me around that time so it was nice to finally get to collaborate with Bren on something after all these years of being a fan of that world. It made it all the more special and personal.”
Kitt’s overhaul of 'Beautiful Losers' is special, transforming it into a pulsating cinema-pop classic, ghostly cherubic harmonies, flamboyant synths, and pirouetting strings.
“When I got the song I thought it was a beautiful sentiment and I wanted to do justice to that” reveals the producer.
“ I was always aiming for a gentle but propulsive swoony Balearic sound and once I had the guitars and bass arranged it all just slotted into place. There was a lot of time spent on sound design and processing and it was a pleasure to work on.”
