Making waves after a summer of memorable live performances, Dublin rockers Bruising Shins return with their newest single ‘Sober in the Theatre,’ freshly released today. Check it out below, along with the b-side track ‘Mindkiller.’
Quickly climbing the rungs of the Irish music ladder, Dublin-based five-piece Bruising Shins return after an electric summer of live shows with their new single, ‘Sober in the Theatre.’
The track starts off deceptively calm, with smooth bass and a melodic guitar riff, before breaking up the serenity with energetic chaos and grunge distortion. The single is paired with a powerhouse b-side, ‘Mindkiller,’ a melancholic rage of a tune that showcases the band’s versatility.
Whilst they only began performing live this year, Bruising Shins excel in live form. It’s a talent they’ve spent the summer honing with gigs at The Soundhouse, and Fibber Magees along with sets at Trinity Ball and Sea Sessions. Onstage, the grunge-punk ensemble are equal parts destructive and refined, the perfect recipe for an electrifying rock performance.
Bruising Shins draws inspiration from ‘90s alternative wave of music spearheaded by the likes of Nirvana, Alice in Chains, and Mudhoney. Having met in secondary school, the band is composed of Marlon Morningstar as the powerhouse lead vocalist, Rat Rail on guitar and backup vocals alongside guitarist The Scorpion, Night Owl on jazzy bass, and Sweettooth with some heavy-handed drums.
