"It’s 100% that moment in ‘10 Things I Hate About You’ where Kat is standing in front of the class reading her poem and in the end admits ‘but mostly I hate the way I don’t hate you, not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all".
Galway based songwriter/producer, Cat Turner, is starting off the new year strong with their latest release. From the onset, "Some Days I'll Hate You" captivates with its poignant opening lines: “Some Days I'll Hate You. Today I hate you.”
The track is a bedroom pop anthem which deals with the pains of a hot and cold relationship in your early adulthood. As is to be expected with Cat Turner’s artistry, ‘Some Days I’ll Hate You’ takes dark and angsty emotions and turns them into glittering upbeat pop. Although sincere, ‘Some Days I’ll Hate You’ is never sickly sweet. It’s a completely danceable and upbeat track but if you listen too closely it might just get you in the feels. The perfect adolescent banger - or for those looking to connect with their teenage selves.
On the subject of her latest release Turner says: "I had a super simple loop to start with and just sang the words 'Some Days I’ll Hate You’ and knew I was onto the exact feeling I wanted to express."
Speaking to how the song details the prickly feeling of young love, Turner says: "It’s 100% that moment in ‘10 Things I Hate About You’ where Kat is standing in front of the class reading her poem and in the end admits ‘but mostly I hate the way I don’t hate you, not even close, not even a little bit, not even at all."
Musically, the track is a testament to Turner's versatility. With its stripped-back production and understated upbeat tempo, "Some Days I'll Hate You" strikes a harmonious balance between vulnerability and empowerment.
