Belfast beatmaker cbakl is slated to share an EP featuring new offerings 'Where my soul takes me' and 'cut off my nose to spite your face'.
After a momentous year for the Belfast producer, cbakl has released his final single of 2021 today in the form of the soulful 'cut off your nose to spite your face'.
This year saw the alternative hip-hop artist perform on the BBC alongside Declan O'Rourke and produce two tracks featured in new Irish drama Kin - starring Aidan Gillen. After amassing millions of streams and self-releasing a number of well-received singles, the prolific producer has returned with the follow up to 'Where my soul takes me'.
'cut off your nose to spite your face' blends high-pitched soulful chops with an array of engrossingly gorgeous drums that have become synonymous with cbakl's sound over the years.
Commenting on the inspiration behind the track, the prolific producer takes a moment to pay respect to others in the Irish scene:
"There are so many great artists emerging in Northern Ireland & Ireland right now, it really feels like we're on the brink of something huge. You have that feeling of not wanting to be left behind so I try to make sure I'm matching that quality with my own singles."
