This atmospheric number has been taken from the Belfast band's newly announced sophomore EP Conditions II, out March 1.
Chalk’s relentless rise continues with their latest release ‘Claw’, from the upcoming Conditions II EP.
Taking inspiration from Dublin’s post-punk guitar scene as well as the hardcore electronic landscape of their native Belfast, the tune is a characteristically intense gothic banger, with a pounding digitised rhythm section and screeching guitar strokes buttressing frontman Ross Cullen’s morose delivery.
Accompanying the song is a trippy music video shot in black & white, which you can check out below.
“Claw is about falling in love inside a nightmare,” said the vocalist.

“There’s a mixture of loss and relief that we wanted to capture. Subconscious feelings are at the crux of most of our tracks - something that we started on Conditions EP.
“We still feel like we’re in that universe of figuring ourselves out as people and using our sonic palette to make sense of it. There are still a few feelings we want to explore and staying in the world of Conditions is something we’ve grown to enjoy - we don’t want to leave just yet”.
It’s set to be a big year for the three-piece, who’ve already played sold-out shows across Europe over the last twelve months. Coinciding with the release of their latest single is a slot at ESNS in The Netherlands, where the band join a strong contingent of Irish talent.
‘Claw’ follows up from ‘The Gate’, which dropped last November. The upcoming Conditions II EP is set for release on March 1 via Nice Swan Records, who signed Chalk last year.
